MR CAMERON McINTYRE - POET / FOUNDER

Mr Cameron McIntyre, is from Newtownards in the Ards Pennisula, Northern Ireland. A plumber by trade he started to write poetry as a way to relax. Married to Dianne with two daughters - Loren and Clare, Cameron has just launched his sixth publication were all proceeds will go to the NI Children's Hospice..

All his publications to date have raised thousands of pounds for local NI charities and on 1st May 2008 his manager/publicist AKR Promotions launched The McIntyre Poetry Awards - Poetry for All competition

MR JIM SHANNON MLA

Mr Jim Shannon MLA has been an outstanding political figure in the Ards Borough since 1977 when he joined his local party the Democratic Unionists Party (DUP). He became a member of the Ards Borough Council in 1985 and has served on the Council ever since. He served as Mayor of Ards from 1991-1992 and has been an Assembly Member since 1998. He is a member of the Committee for Culture, Arts & Leisure, Stormont.

Mr Shannon has had a long association with the Arts and 2008 he has already added his name to the prestigious McIntyre Poetry Awards 2008 and will host the event at The Long Gallery, Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

TITANIC QUARTER

TITANIC QUARTER has just become the latest sponsor of the Poetry Awards 2008. Synonymous with one of the World's most infamous ocean liner's Titanic Quarter is delighted to assist in the encouragment of Northern Ireland's young talent and has donated a entire section and an Annual Award to be presented on the day of the Awards at Stormont.

Malcolm Bannon is based in North Down and is a freelance professional photographer. He has covered many events and has had a long association with the Newtownards Spectator and many other local papers. Malcolm has just come on board as the official photographer for the McIntyre Poetry Awards - POETRY FOR ALL 2008 and will provide fantastic shots of the day at Stormont.He has also agreed that any official photographs will be available for order by the schools on the day.
